http://www.servicebrandglobal.com/img/pasowyh/ Eric wrote this song, so what can I say about it? Well, it may seem funny to launch a solo career for the very purpose of making a dent in the too-large backlog of my own songs (those untapped for the half-dozen bands I’ve been in) only to put someone else’s song on ‘my’ solo album. But Eric asked me as we started thinking about a follow-up to Songs of Serenity, and I thought, why not? He’d never used this song in the Top Drawers or his other bands, and really wanted to record it; I was planning another all-out assault on Echoplant with this crack band to try to not just follow up but better the last album; so he thought it was a great chance to do this song up right. The other reason it made perfect sense is that in selecting songs for this record, I stumbled on the unifying theme of Positivity, partly from the simple pun of calling it “Follow UP.” And what could be more positive than the ultimate comfort song, “It’s Gonna be Alright”? I know Eric’s gone through some challenges and dark times, so I love this lyric, seemingly written to encourage himself – and I know many other people need that uplifting message. As it turned out, Eric’s contribution actually helped me solidify the theme for this album – thanks Eric!
